Running Track
This is the big difference over the the Smooth 9.35. With its 64″ treadmill platform the running track is a full 3″ longer. This may not sound much, but if you are 6′ tall runner, or like to have a long comfortable stride, this will make it far more assuring knowing that every pace will land safely on the mat..
Motor
Not all motors are created equal, and the Smooth motor is quite special. With its powerful 4.0 CHP output it is more than capable of running silently at high speeds, hour after hour day after day.
Its not going to be phased by a high speed run up a steep incline.
Suspension
As you would expect at this level the suspension is top class. Using its Im-Pression™ Shock Absorption Cushioning System this treadmill is able to soak up the shock of your feet impact to minimise its transmission to your joints. This will enable you to run faster and longer on the Smooth 9.65 treadmill with less risk of injury.
Console
For 2014 there has been a huge change in the console. The display is a 7.5″ blue LCD, as per the previous version. However if you connect with the optional bluetooth device to your tablet then you can immerse yourself in the Virtual Fitness Trainer. Your tablet screen will fill with a scene of your chosen running track (forest etc), at the sides of the screen are your controls and readouts such as heart rate, speed etc.
This looks stunning, and as you run the scene on the tablet unfolds in front of you making this a great immersive feeling.
Sound
Fortunately the Smooth 9.65 Treadmill runs quietly, so the built in audio system can be heard clearly. It supports playback via an MP3 device.

The old version of the 9.65 had a good selection of programs, and these have been retained for 2014, for a full list of programs see the product features section.
Safety
Safety is at the heart of the Smooth 9.65HR treadmill. With easy to grab side bars that will easily take the weight of a 400lb rider, quick track cut off and its tough built in suspension all eventualities have been considered.
Warranty
Sole have improved the warranty from the old version and you can now enjoy a lifetime Frame, Parts and Motor warranty. Labour cover is for two years

What are Reviews saying about the New Edition Smooth Fitness 9.65LC?
This treadmill has only been on the market for a couple of weeks, so we can only go by the previous version. This reasonably well rated, scoring 3.5 stars out of 5. Users liked the long life, quality construction and feel.
Many of the old treadmills previous issues have been addressed, with the belt length now a massive 64″ providing a comfortable running area for even the tallest users. There have also been big improvements in the console.
All of the negative reviews seem to be regarding poor service from Smooth, I would recommend ordering directly from Amazon or another third party. Amazon have always offered great service.
Summary
If you enjoy your running there is no reason not to buy the Smooth Treadmill. If you need that longer 64″ running area then this will give you that space.
However if you find that a shorter running platform is OK then you can save a couple of $ and go for the next model down, the Smooth 9.35 Treadmill.
For the money this is a huge amount of quality treadmill. The vast running space, powerful motor, massive warrenty and keen price make the Smooth 9.65LC one of the best on the market.
