If you have read any of my other Exercise bike reviews you will know that I am a huge fan of the Spinner Brand exercise bikes!  The Spinner Edge, for me, captures the balance between price and strength perfectly.

I have been spinning for over 10 years, and have the legs to prove it!  Its my winter exercise when the mountain bike trails are iced up.

Let’s take a look and see what makes the Edge the best.

Flywheel

While the Edge does not have the heaviest flywheel on the market, at 42 lbs its still a good hefty weight.  The flywheel is driven by a chain.  Normally I am against chains on modern spin bikes, but somehow Spinner makes the bike still really quiet.

Spinner EdgeFrame

I have spent many hours working out on this bike.  For me the strength and stability of the Spinner Edge frame is perfect.  Not a millimeter of flex even when the flywheel is nearly stuck fast and I have my full force going through it.

The next model up, the Blade has a much thicker frame, but I have no issues with the Edge.  The next model down, the Spinner Fit frame lacks the oval tubing that gives the Edge its extra strength.

Adjustability

The saddle can be adjusted for/aft and up/down.  So you can find a spot that is ideal for you.  Tip here, make sure the saddle is inline with your hip, when standing at the side of the bike.  This will give you the ideal height.  You don’t want the saddle too low or you will lose power.

Handlebars can only go up and down.  Some might prefer a little more adjustability, but I have never had an issue with them.

Water Storage

As you can see from the image, the handlebars have two cradles for the water to be stored in.  This makes your water quick and easy to access.  The cradles can also take any size bottle, even 2 liter ones so you will not go thirsty.

Pedals

This is another area where the Edge really shines.  The NSX pedals developed by Spinner are the best!  With a double side design, one side has a normal toe clip, and on the reverse an SPD clip.

The other thing I like about the pedals is the wide flat surface.  Spinning can put a huge amount of pressure through the soles of your trainers.  More than one pair of mine have been cut through with the metal frame pedals.  This is not a problem with the NSX pedals on the Edge.

What are other Reviews saying about the Spinner Edge?

Looking about the web there are not that many other reviews.  On Amazon it scores (surprisingly poorly).  However the results have been dragged down by a guy who was upset at the lack of computer on the bike!  There are plenty of positive comments echoing my views.  This is a well built bike that will give you years of great service.

Any negatives?

Well the computer is one.  I know that in the UK there are consoles available to retro fit on to the bikes.  However these have not yet launched in the USA.

Summary

Not really sure what more I can add.  If I go spinning and I see these bikes I know that I will be safe and enjoy a challenging workout.  If I had had to equip my new gym this would be on the top of the list.
