Exerpeutic LX9 Review

exerpeutic LX9 review

The Exerpeuitc LX9 is a solid entry level spin bike for beginners and intermediate riders.  Immediately I am impressed with the beefy 40lb flywheel that is great to see at this price range.  A good heavy flywheel ensures that the pedal motion is smooth, especially when pedalling fast or at high resistance.  Made from cast iron and coated in chrome its looks good and spins smoothly.

This bike has now been replaced by the Exerpeutic LX905 bike

The pedals are fixed to the flywheel, and won’t stop turning if the flywheel is moving.  Connecting to the flywheel is a chain drive, that gives excellent feedback on the flywheel.  This gives a good quiet ride, especially with the three piece pedal cranks.

These three elements combine to give a great feel to the bike, you can almost imagine being out on the road!

Comfort

Saddle

With a cushioned three way adjustable saddle then you can ensure that the bike can be set up just the way you want it.  There is enough padding in the saddle that you can get away with wearing shorts, some may want to pick up a saddle cover to be sure.

Handlebars

The handlebars are also well padded and provide a good support for the higher resistance climbs.  A nice feature that we like on the handlebars is the elbow cushions.  These enable you to get down low when sprinting and feel secure by resting the elbows while your arms stretch out in front.

In addition to the cushions the handlebars are also fully adjustable, so its no problem to find the right position for them.  After adjusting they lock safely into place with the locking pins so there is no chance of them slipping mid workout.

Pedals

The pedals are a straight forward set of aluminum alloys.  Each pedal has a toe strap to keep your feet secure on the pedals even at high speed.

Console

Its rare to find a computer on a spin bike, yet Exerpeutic have included one with the LX9.  As you might expect it includes all the basic details: distance, time, speed, calories burned. Most surprising is that it includes a pulse monitor.  This feature for us sets it well apart from other bikes in this price bracket.

We also like the clear display of the console that is bright and easy to read.

Anything else you should know?

The bike also ships with a bottle holder, and is recommended for a user height range of 5’2” to 6’6”

Pros and Cons of the LX9

What are other reviews saying about the LX9?

This is a fairly new bike to the market, and initial feedback has been good.  Receiving 4.5 out of 5 stars on amazon.

Users like the clear console, which is much better than bikes at a similar price.  It also feels like a solid bike, much closer to those you find in a gym
