Pete is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barbara Osborne VanHorn; son, Mark Alan VanHorn (husband Michal Bomboy); daughter, Karen Sue VanHorn (Kevin Dobell Sr.); brothers, Harry Van Horn (Sandy), Franklin Van Horn (Marcia), and sister-in-law Terry VanHorn; granddaughters, Nicole Freeman Wu (husband Luc Wu) and Karrisa Stutzman; grandson, Justin Stutzman; his great-granddaughter, Evelyn Wu (who was special to Pete, and his pride and joy); and by many nieces and nephews. She was an OB nurse, ER nurse, director of nursing, established the hospitals first personnel department and served as personnel director for many years. Forever her familys North Star, she will continue to shine brightly for all who love and miss her. A private burial was held by the family in Highland Cemetery, Odessa. She enjoyed hosting family dinners where everyone would gather around her table and tell stories of their adventures. He was the owner of Lakemont Service, in Lakemont, NY, and a workaholic, still repairing cars right up to the day of his accident. He loved his hunting parties on Crazy Acres and his party shirts. She is survived by her loving companion of 23 years, Russell Bennett; her loving children, Joe Hannon of Alexandria, LA; James (Sarah) Wescott of Melbourne, FL; Lorrie (Tim) Cribb of Tioga, PA; Jamie Martinez of Bentley, LA; and Jenny Henry of Norman, OK; brothers, Harry Naylor and Jack Naylor; and several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, and daughter Jennifer Purvis. She believed in lifting others up whether they were her children or the children who came to her daycare, tirelessly guiding and supporting others through many years.
