TR200 Review

I really enjoy running, the trouble is most of the equipment is big, bulky and hard to store.  If, like me, you are looking for something that will challenge you and not take over your home then you need something that can be easily put away.

This is where Lifespan come in with their TR200 Compact Treadmill.  This is designed to be a treadmill that is good enough for a daily workout, yet be easy to store when not in use.

This treadmill is now discontinued.

It’s a hugely popular treadmill, and with a reasonable price tag of under $700 from a high quality brand – Lifespan.

A treadmill so compact that it can fold and store under a bed.

What makes the Lifespan TR200 Special?

It can be stored easily:

LifeSpan fold and storeAs this is a compact treadmill it needs to be easy to move. With its weight of about 100lbs, two roller wheels at the front and a compact shape this is no problem.  It folds down to less than a foot high so it’s really easy to find a place to store it.  It might even go under a bed.  It would definitely fit in a cupboard, just make sure you take it out and use it every now and then!

When its upright there is a handy “third leg” that can be extended out this keeps the treadmill far more stable when stored, and prevents it from falling on a child or damaging a wall.

How powerful is it?

It’s not really fair to call this a running machine.  The motor is not up for that, at 1.5hp it’s more than adequate for use as jogging treadmill or walking treadmill.

The top speed is 8 mph and the motor is easily able to sustain that output on the TR200.  This is a significant upgrade of the previous version which managed 6 mph and in our mind brings the TR200 really into contention.

If it is a running machine you are after I would suggest TR4000i this is the entry model with a 12mph top speed.  To compare the TR200 with the other LifeSpan Fitness Treadmills see our comparison table here

Does it Incline?

Amazingly it does.  We were surprised initially that it could, with its small form factor it seemed impossible for there to be any incline.

The TR200 has 10 incline levels which is achieved by the legs extending from the front of the machine.  These are easily controlled from the console.  This gives a great workout, and the incline really does push you during the exercise.

How wide is the treadmill?

This is one area where the Lifespan is not as strong as the competition.  With its fantastic compact shape there is little room left for a huge running area.  In this case you are limited to a treadbelt of 17″ x 48″.

Personally for the Lifespan TR200 I do not see this as an issue.  It is not designed as a running machine, more light jogging.  Plus I prefer to have more flexibility for storage options, than the bigger belt.

LifeSpan-TR200-consoleDo I need to assemble the TR200?

LifeSpan Fitness don’t need to issue tricky instructions and near useless tools.  The TR200 is ready to go out of the box.

This is simplicity itself, and one of the reasons that this is such a popular model.  Its completely hassle free, just raise the handle with the console, plug it in, and you are off.

What other Features does it have?:

How big is it?

This is not a large treadmill.  It measures Full: 60″ L x 31″ W x 52″ H (152.4cm L x 78.7cm W x 132.1cm H)
Flat: W x11″ (27.9cm)

Am I too big for the treadmill?

The maximum user weight is: 250Lbs

What is the Manufacturer Warranty?

Lifespan offer a full residential warranty as follows:

  • Frame: Lifetime
  • Motor: 5 Years
  • Parts: 1 Year
  • Labor: 1 Year

Our Verdict:  The lightest and most compact treadmill there is!

This is the best choice if you are looking for a compact treadmill.  It’s easy to set up, high end finish and compact storage puts it miles ahead of the competition. There is nothing else that comes close in terms of build quality or feel.  We highly recommend the Lifespan TR200.

We are delighted with this little machine, and it makes a great choice for the home.  As with any large purchase its always worth reading round.  We are experts on treadmills, but to really get a feel for the TR200 you should read a host of reviews from everyday long term users.
