Exerpeutic LX905 Exercise Bike Review

Exerpeutic-LX905 Review

The Exerpeuitc LX905  is a solid entry level spin bike for beginners and intermediate riders.  It has been introduced as a unpgrade from the popular LX9 that is being phased out.  Straight off the bat –  I am impressed with the beefy 40lb flywheel that is great to see at this price range.  This heavy fly wheel is what you need to ensure that the pedal motion is smooth, especially when pedalling fast or at high resistance.  Made from cast iron and coated in chrome its looks good and spins smoothly.

The pedals are fixed to the flywheel, and won’t stop turning if the flywheel is moving.  Connecting to the flywheel is a chain drive, that gives excellent feedback on the flywheel.  This gives a good quiet ride, especially with the three piece pedal cranks.

These three elements combine to give a great feel to the bike, you can almost imagine being out on the road!

Comfort

Saddle

The seat is comfortable, with a nice amount of cushioning.  Even better is the adjustability!  For and aft movement keeps you the right position above the pedals. The nice chunky handles make adjusting easy and quick.  There is enough padding in the saddle that you can get away with wearing shorts, some may want to pick up a saddle cover to be sure.

Handlebars

The handlebars are also well padded and provide a good support for the higher resistance climbs.  A nice feature that we like on the handlebars is the elbow cushions.  These enable you to get down low when sprinting and feel secure by resting the elbows while your arms stretch out in front.

Possibly the only issue with the handlebars is that they don’t adjust forwards and back.  Thing is they are so loExerpeutic-LX905 Review Adjustmentng that its no problem to find the right position for your arms.  After adjusting (up and down) they lock safely into place with the locking pins so there is no chance of thExerpeutic-LX905 Review handlesem slipping mid workout.

The other nice touch is the built in heart rate sensors.  These are reasonably accurate and provide great feedback to your workout.  Beats having to wear a chest strap or heart rate monitor!

Pedals

The pedals are a straight forward set of aluminum alloys.  Each pedal has a toe strap to keep your feet secure on the pedals even at high speed. Although you may decide to use your SPD shoes with optional pedals

Console

Its rare to find a computer on a spin bike, yet Exerpeutic have included one with the LX905.  As you might expect it includes all the basic details: distance, time, speed, calories burned. Most surprising is that it includes a pulse monitor.  This feature for us sets it well apart from other bikes in this price bracket.

We also like the clear display of the console that is bright and easy to read.

Anything else you should know?

The bike also ships with a bottle holder, and is recommended for a user height range of 5’2” to 6’6”
